Amate its the name of a paper fabricated by hand from barks of trees like ficus. It also deno minates the art painted to it. In the beginning I drew the images that came to my head naturally as everybo dy does but one day I discovered my self follo wing the suggested forms that are contained under neath the texture. I can't explain it in a different way. I paint what I see in the paper. I use a lot of white color to bring light in it. That also means that I draw the forms several times before painting. The themes that come most often are of childish or naive inspi ration. They are ussually landscapes or daily scenes about people or places from my country that I remember or read about.
